Our story
My name is Amy Roen-Kim and I am an Iowa girl who moved to the Madison, WI area 20 years ago after graduating from pharmacy school at the University of Iowa. I have been a pharmacist for over 20 years, specializing in home infusion and am married to a wonderful husband who supports me every step of the way. We have 3 amazing kids who I am proud to call mine. And a Corgi who I love more than I thought possible.
I have always been an old soul and fell in love with estate sales a decade ago. From the vintage goods to hearing people’s fascinating journeys in life, I was hooked. Starting my own business was always in the back of my mind but I viewed it as a pipe dream to be accomplished “later”. It was not until my terminal father-in-law moved in that I fully grasped how short life is and decided to start this next chapter of my life. I created Tallulah & Stella’s with that in mind. Life is short, do what you love. Along with my Grandma Mildred’s simple but perfect saying : “Be Kind”.
Our name
Naming your newfound business is a fun, scary challenge. Will it draw attention? Will it show up first on the Google search list? Is it right? But most important to me, does it mean something? Tallulah & Stella’s means a great deal to me.
Back in 1999, I met my friend Amy. She moved from Iowa with me in 2000 to the Madison area and we have survived all life has thrown at us over the years from cancer to divorce to losing loved ones. She is Aunt Amy to my children and a pseudo daughter to my mom. When we travel together, we are often teased about having the same name. Eventually, we began telling people we are Tallulah and Stella. The name has been around for years and I could think of no better way to honor my friend, our journey and my business with this name.
